COPYRIGHT / NOTICE & TAKEDOWN

GRLKID is an archive of work submitted by the people who made it. Uploading work you don't own violates our Terms. If your work is on GRLKID without your permission, we will remove it.

Sending a notice

Email dmca@grlkid.com, or use the Copyright option in the report menu on any post. Your notice must include all six of the following. We can't act on a notice that's missing them, and we'll tell you what's missing rather than ignoring you.

  1. Your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or someone authorized to act for them.
  2. Identification of the work you say was infringed.
  3. Identification of the material on GRLKID you want removed, with enough information for us to find it — a direct link to the post is best.
  4. Your contact information: address, telephone, email.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and — under penalty of perjury — that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.

What we do: we act expeditiously to remove or disable access to material covered by a complete notice, and we notify the person who posted it, forwarding your notice. Deliberate material misrepresentation in a notice can make you liable for damages under §512(f). Don't send one about work that isn't yours.

If your post was removed — counter notice

If your work was removed by mistake or misidentification, send a counter notice to dmca@grlkid.com containing:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared on GRLKID before removal.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address, and telephone number, plus a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the district where you live (or, if outside the United States, the Central District of California, where Grlkid Inc may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.

What happens next: we forward your counter notice to the person who complained. If they don't tell us they've filed a court action seeking to restrain you, we restore the material in 10 to 14 business days. Understand what you're doing: a counter notice hands your name and address to the complaining party and consents to being sued in federal court. If you're not certain you have the rights, don't file one.

Repeat infringers

We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. Specifically:

Trademark, right of publicity, and everything else are not handled here — see the Terms. If you're in a photograph and didn't consent to it being posted, use the report menu on the post; that's a different process and it's faster.
